Design of Design Ch. 19 & 20 Summary

Ch. 19

This chapter deals with product processes. Some products that have had big successes have not had standard design procedures. They were developed outside of the norm of design. But since most designs were not ment to be highly innovative, this is not always a good process. This however, constricts future innovations because consumers want a product that is similar to the one they originally had.

Ch. 20

This chapter talks about what makes good designers. Great designs don't always come from great designers, they come from teams of great designers. Their experience comes from critiequed practice, in which they are critiqued as they design. This happens rarely in standard education practices. Most of the time, designers are grown in their environment instead of coming out of school with this knowledge.
