Design of Design CH 2 Summary

The rational model of design, usually used by engineers, is an orderly model of steps and processes. The model consists of a primary goal, secondary objectives, utility functions, constraints, and resource allocations. This model can be represented by a design tree, which shows once you make a design decision it limits the design space of your next decisions. Breaking down a design into steps makes it easier to build a big project. It makes clearly defined milestones for scheduling and the ability to use your resources most efficiently. However, the rational model has it's faults.
