Constraints can be both a burden but can also help with design. They can help narrow down the ways in which a project will be designed. When you specify something to be designed you should lay out what properties are needed. Then worry about how they will be achieved. Designers should spend more time in the beginning to determine what the user of the product will want in the end.

Elegance and aesthetics are important in a design. Making a design clear and easy to understand is important. A good way to achieve this is through consistency. Documenting a project's style will help make it seem like the whole project was done by the same person. You should also look at other's designs and use these as building blocks for you own designs.
